Director of Communications and Marketing

William Hixson, CAE, joined CBPA as Director of Communications and Marketing for California Business Properties Association in March 2023. Prior to joining CBPA, Hixson served as Executive Director for a number of local, statewide, and regional non-profit organizations through his role with two association management companies.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies in 2012, Hixson began working as a Media Relations Specialist for an association representing small businesses. This segued into a move to Sacramento to work for one of the Capital Region’s top grossing public relations firms. In this role, he secured media placements, wrote press materials, and produced traditional and digital content for corporate and association clients.

Hixson obtained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and has held several volunteer leadership roles with the California Society of Association Executives, including Communications Committee Chair and Capital Council Chair.

In 2022, he was selected as one of 23 NextGen scholars by ASAE, a national program designed to invest in high-potential leaders in the association community. Outside of the association community, Hixson has  served on the board of directors of the Sacramento Public Relations Association and Metro EDGE – a program of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.

Hixson lives in Roseville with his husband and golden retriever.
