    rex himeRex Hime is a native Californian, graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.A. in Political Science and received his law degree from the UC Davis School of Law.

    Active in civic, church, military service and alumni activities Rex has shown a continued commitment to community involvement.

    He has served as the Presidential as well as the California State Assembly Representative on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and was a member of the California Task Force on Violence Prevention. Currently he serves as the Governors’ appointment to the Board of Directors for the California State Fair (CAL-EXPO), was its Chair for two years, and as a Trustee for the Greater Sacramento Valley Region Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where he currently is the Chair.

    Rex was recently appointed as the Alumni Regent to the UC Board of Regents. He is a past President of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and has served on the various finance committees for the campus, the association and student campaigns.

    Prior to joining California Business Properties Association (CBPA), Rex served on then Governor Reagan’s educational staff and as Assistant to the Director for the State Department of Consumer Affairs. Later he was the Executive Director of the California State Commission for Economic Development, Director for the California Commission on Agriculture and as a Special Assistant to the Lieutenant Governor. His legislative experience includes service as the Senior Assistant to the Minority Leader of the California State Assembly.

    With a membership of more than 12,000, CBPA is the designated legislative advocate for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the California chapters of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the Building Owners and Managers Association of California (BOMA CAL), the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), the California Downtown Association (CDA), the CCIM of Northern California, and the Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (ACRE) of Southern California.

    Rex helped to create the coalition that has stopped the threat of split roll tax several times. Rex was active in the passage of the, recently signed into law, measure that created significant reforms to the ADA legal process in California. He also provided leadership to the coalition of interests that achieved passage of the law prohibiting commercial rent control in California – making it the only state to enact such legislation. Hime also brought together a coalition of the business and disabled communities to successfully achieve passage of landmark legislation redefining the approval process for drive-throughs in California.

    He has been involved in all statewide school construction bonds; serving either on the steering committee or on the finance committee. These measures have generated almost $50B for K-12 and higher education facility construction. Rex has been involved in the drafting of major water bond efforts and has worked for Proposition 204 (1994) and Proposition 13 (1999) and Proposition 84 (2006) serving on the steering and executive committees, as well as finance co-chair.

    Rex is a resident of Loomis, is married to Gwyn Bicker Hime and has two sons, Rex and Reagan.
